The Illinois Tollway is hosting Electronics Recycling Collection locations to mark the celebration of Earth Day 2018.
The Electronics Recycling Collection is free of charge and Tollway customers are invited to drop off items at six Tollway oases pavilions and at the Tollway’s Downers Grove headquarters on Monday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to noon or until the trucks are full.
The Tollway is partnering with eWorks Electronic Services based in Elk Grove Village, a not-for-profit that supports workers with developmental disabilities.
“At the Illinois Tollway we regularly work to integrate recycling into maintenance and operations to save expenses and help to preserve resources, so we invite our customers to join our efforts and think green for a day by recycling unused electronics,” said Tollway Executive Director Liz Gorman. “Additionally, by working with eWorks to manage the collection, we are able to support employment opportunities for people with disabilities.”
The 2018 Earth Day Electronics Recycling Collection will accepted items including: PCs, printers, scanners, mouse, keyboards, telephones, answering machines, fax machines, cell phones, pagers, postage machines, VCRs, DVD players, stereo equipment, joy sticks, video game players, cameras, camcorders. Items that will not be accepted include: televisions, monitors, large appliances, hazardous and chemical waste materials, batteries, smoke detectors or wooden speakers.
