On Monday May 28th, the City of Chicago Heights hosted its annual Memorial Day Morning of Remembrance. The ceremony marks a time to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by our fallen soldiers who served in the Armed Forces.
The following is an excerpt from the Mayor’s tribute:
“On this most solemn of occasions, I especially want to acknowledge anyone in the audience who knows or is related to a veteran who lost their life in service to our Country. Beyond the parades and the barbecues that mark this occasion, it is you who know more than any of us about the true meaning of Memorial Day. And of its special significance in light of the American experience.”
