Resurfacing Project Moving Forward
The City has over 90 miles of streets and roadways, and each year, through CDBG and capital improvement funds major resurfacing work is completed on our streets and roadways. The City applies for CDBG funds a year in advance, with the actual construction to be completed in the following year. This year, over 16,000 feet of streets and roadways will be resurfaced on the west side.
Sewer and infrastructure repairs were completed well in advance of the start of any road work. Milling to remove the old asphalt is underway, and will be followed by the resurfacing, which is the process of laying new asphalt. Sections of damaged pavement will also be replaced, along with deteriorated curbs and gutters. Accessibility improvements will include uplifted concrete sidewalks and the installation of sidewalk ramps.
We ask residents in this area to please observe any posted no parking signs. It helps ensure the contractor's ability to do their job quickly and efficiently. Additionally, the contractor will notify residents that may be directly impacted by the road work. i.e. a driveway may be blocked if the driveway apron is scheduled to be replaced.
Construction began in late September and will continue through November 2016.
