Festival of Sister Cities this Weekend!!!

Be sure to add the 6th Annual Festival of Sister Cities to your calendar on September 9th and 10th  for a weekend filled with great food, entertainment and a celebration of culture and community! The festival will be held on the Bloom HS grounds at 10th Street and Chicago Road. This annual celebration honors our  four sister cities: Wadowice, Poland; Asuogyaman District, Ghana, West Africa; Cedral, San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and San Benedetto del Tronto, Marche, Italy. Please be sure to stop in and visit the  Sister Cities booths to view the displays representing the  culture and heritage of each region.
A new event this year is the festival’s Chili Cook-Off,  featuring Chicago Heights finest Fire and Police personnel as well as other municipal public service providers.  Each department has designated a charity of choice, and all proceeds from ticket sales for the Chili-Cook Off will benefit these charities.   Stop by the Chili Cook-Off tent, taste some excellent chili,  help pick the winning chili concoction and support some great charities… all at the same time!!
On Friday evening the carnival opens from 5:00 to 10:00 PM and kicks off  a great festival weekend that features terrific bands and entertainers, ethnic food booths and local favorites, children’s crafts and games, carnival rides and more…all at the 6th Annual Festival of Sister Cities!
