List of Designated Cooling Centers in the City of Chicago Heights
(July 18, 2019) - The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Advisory for the remainder of this week and into the weekend.

This extreme combination of high heat and humidity can create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

Please remember to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, and be sure to check on seniors or elderly family, friends, neighbors, and pets, to ensure their safety during this extreme heat-wave.

If you need to seek relief from the heat on this weekend, please go to one of city’s designated cooling centers:
  • The Chicago Heights Police Station, located at 1601 Chicago Road, is open 24-hours;
  • The Bloom Township Center, located at 425 S. Halsted Street, will be open this Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st with special hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • The Chicago Heights Public Library, located at 15 W. 15th Street, is open on Saturday, July 20th from 10 AM to 2 PM.
